Pastor Shawn Deterding
Executive Director
Pastor Shawn Deterding has had a love for outdoor ministry since 1986 when he first became a summer counselor. Pastor Shawn "Deter" received his under grad in Education from Wichita State University in Wichita, KS. Graduated from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, May of 2003 with a Master's of Divinity. Pastor Shawn has been working with youth and adults for a long time in a variety of settings. "Outdoor Ministry changed my life, and I want to be able to share the joy I have in the Lord with all people through this ministry." Pastor Shawn is married to Patricia and they have five beautiful children.
Mark Nolte
Maintenance Manager
I have been associated with Hiet's Point as maintenance and more since 2001. I retired from the Air Force and at that time the only job I wanted was take care of this facility. I believe in the need for all of us to get away from the rat race of society and get back to a relationship with Christ and what better place than in his beautiful creation. I love working with adults and youth and as volunteer coordinator, I am always blessed with the fellowship that the volunteers bring. I look forward to working with all of you in the future.

Heather Burdick
Bookkeeper
Heather Burdick graduated from SFCC with an AA in accounting and computer programming in 2000. She is currently furthering her education and working towards a bachelors in accounting. She sure has a love of numbers! She has a beautiful daughter, Emily, who accompanies her to work every once in a while. She has been married for 5 years to Robert and lives in Cole Camp, MO. In her spare time she enjoys playing with Emily, scrapbooking and reading.

Outdoor Education Director
Nikki Freeman graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Education. Very early on in her teaching career, she saw the value and importance of hands-on, experiential education. Connecting this thought with her love of the outdoors has led her to a career in outdoor education, which she has been very fortunate to pursue in a variety of settings. Nikki enjoys working with children of all ages and strives to help them become better stewards of the earth. In her spare time, she enjoys photographing nature, camping, hiking, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.

NURSE OF THE WEEK:
Are you looking for a unique opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, work with children, and gaining some practical experience? Heit's Point Lutheran Ministries is in need of nurses, to serve as "nurse of the week" for our summer camp program.We are searching for nurses to assist and be available to handle any medical issue that might arise during a week of camp, and distribute medication to camper's as needed. The length of service runs from noon on Sunday to 2:30p.m on the last day of the camp. This is a volunteer position, lodging and food will be provided. If you have a child attending the camp a discount could be available. Camp nurses can be RN, LPN, Nurse Practitioners, or Paramedics
